Ask for a small-pet price for your rat or gerbil; with plenty of providers nearby, someone is likely to quote below the standard cat band.

For a rodent, the practical rule of thumb is simple: your own land, deep enough that animals can't reach, away from water, with a stone on top.

Since the CMA review, vets must offer a communal option and show prices, so ask for the small-pet price list.

What to do when your hamster or rat dies in Windsor
- If your pet died at the vet, the practice can organize cremation for you, or you can carry them home in a box. Both are normal, and nobody expects an answer while you're standing at reception.

Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Windsor?
Usually yes. Richmond is about 13 miles away, Reading is about 16 miles away and Guildford is about 17 miles away, all inside a normal collection radius. Get the mileage written into the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
Will I have to travel to Reading to arrange things?
