Will I have to travel to Boston to arrange things?
Not usually. Providers based in Boston (roughly 16 miles from Concord) collect from here as a matter of routine, and the paperwork is done by email or phone. If you want to be present for a witnessed cremation, that is when the drive matters.

Is it safe to bury a rat that was put to sleep?
Only if you can bury deeply. Euthanasia drugs stay in the body and can harm wildlife or pets that dig. Since 2003[8], US labels have warned that euthanized animals must be buried deeply or cremated. Go at least three feet down with a heavy slab on top, or choose cremation instead.
Is private cremation worth it for a 100 g pet?
It depends on what you want afterwards. Private cremation returns a teaspoon or two of ash from a Syrian hamster, enough for a vial or a pendant, but it can cost several times what the pet did. If you don't need ashes back, communal cremation or a deep garden burial is just as respectful. There's no wrong choice.
