In summer heat, bring your companion's body indoors to an air-conditioned room, onto a beach towel, with frozen gel packs around the torso. In late summer, warm Delta water can grow harmful algae, so keep animals out of the water when warnings are posted.
Lots in Discovery Bay are mostly compact, many backing onto water, and the water table is high, which makes home burial risky. Cremation is the more common choice. What to do when your hamster or rat dies in Discovery Bay
- If an escaped rat, mouse or hamster is found dead in the house, put gloves on, scoop them up in a cloth and set them down in a shoebox.
