Before you bury or scatter in Dubai
Most decisions after a small pet dies are yours alone. The exceptions are home burial and scattering ashes, which Dubai and your local council or city may regulate. For a rodent, the practical rule of thumb is simple: your own land, deep enough that animals can't reach, away from water, with a stone on top.
In the UAE, pet burial isn't generally permitted, so cremation is the usual route even for a hamster or rat. Shared cremation of a pet under 5 kg costs about AED 700 to 900; separate cremation costs more. Summer heat is intense, so keep your pet wrapped and in the fridge until drop-off, and ask how ashes are returned.
If your rat, mouse or hamster has just died
- Look for signs of life gently. In a cold room, a hamster may be in torpor; warmth and a few hours of patience will tell you.
- Keep your pet safe and cool, boxed with a liner, out of the sun and away from other animals.
- Think about euthanasia drugs. When a vet has put your pet to sleep, wildlife can be harmed by the body, so go much deeper and cover with a slab, or cremate instead.

Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Emirates Hills?
Usually yes. Dubai is about 13 miles away, Sharjah is about 26 miles away and Abu Dhabi is about 65 miles away, all inside a normal collection radius. Get the mileage written into the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
