That's lovely. Just use your own ground rather than a relative's cemetery plot, since most human cemeteries don't allow animal burials; check first if you're unsure.

One rule applies everywhere: if your rat or hamster was put to sleep, the drugs stay in the body. Since 2003[7], US labels have warned that euthanized animals must be buried deeply or cremated so wildlife can't eat them, and the same caution makes sense in Hauts-de-France. In France, your vet will usually offer incinération collective or individuelle for a rongeur. Individual cremation returns the ashes; collective doesn't. Burial of small animals on your own land is generally allowed away from homes and water sources, but check with your mairie. Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Lille?

Yes, if you'd like their ashes mixed. Tell the provider in writing that you want them cremated together and returned in one container. If you'd rather keep them apart, ask for two private cremations and separate labeled vials. Either way, ask for a per-animal price; some providers discount a second small pet on the same day.
How deep should I bury a hamster or rat in Lille?
